Automatic ...

A car using automatic transmission changes gears for you, giving you less to do whilst driving. This allows you to concentrate more on the finer points of driving. The DVSA test standard is the same as for driving a manual car and you must achieve this standard to be able to drive solo.

However, at YES! Driving School we encourage all pupils to aim beyond that minimum standard and become a forward-thinking, confident and safe driver who is able to deal with any and all traffic situations. The ultimate aim is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to be safe for the rest of your driving life.

Advanced ...

Our Advanced Instructors will tutor you through to a standard of driving far superior to the standards required to pass the DVSA Learner Test.

“Advanced driving is the ability to control the position and speed of the vehicle safely, systematically and smoothly, using road and traffic conditions to progress unobtrusively with skill and responsibility. This skill requires a positive but courteous attitude and a high standard of driving competence based on concentration, effective all round observation, anticipation, and planning. This must be co-ordinated with good handling skills. The vehicle will always be at the right speed with the correct gear engaged and can always be stopped safely on its own side of the road in the distance that can be seen to be clear.”

– DSA, RoADAR, IAM, 1997

Advanced Drivers have also been proven to be less likely to crash.  They also drive in a manner which is far more cost effective, keeping fuel costs to a minimum and reducing the amount of wear and tear on the vehicle.
