Refresher ...

1/2 Day Refresher in auto or manual – Usually completed in a full morning or afternoon over a minimum of 3 hours + breaks.

After a long period off the road many drivers feel insecure or lacking in confidence and feel that they need a few lessons to get back on track.  You’ll be surprised how quickly your driving skills come back to you even after a long break.  However, it is important to cover a wide variety of roads, traffic conditions and, ideally, a few manoeuvres.  To allow you to refresh at a steady pace, our half day refresher course is ideal.  You can start in the safe environment of a dual controlled car before changing to your own car if you have one and want to.

Automatic ...

Automatic driving lessons can be taken in the Poole and Bournemouth area.  This option is available with either a male or female instructor.  Each of our automatic instructors has chosen to specialise in automatic tuition. They have gained a reputation for providing a relaxed, stress free learning environment. This has ensured that our pupils not only learn quickly but also enjoy their learning experience.

A car using automatic transmission changes gears for you, giving you less to do whilst driving. This allows you to concentrate more on the finer points of driving. The DVSA test standard is the same as for driving a manual car. You must achieve this standard to be able to drive solo.  Opting to learn to drive in an automatic vehicle means you will need to do an automatic driving test rather than a manual test. This also means that you will only be licenced to drive automatic cars.

Training Green

In an effort to be kind to Mother Nature and do our bit to maintain our precious planet, YES Driving School is investing heavily into electric vehicles.  We have recently added a Peugeot e-208 and 2 Hyundai Kona=electrics to our fleet with more to follow.  These vehicles have zero emissions and are super smooth to drive.  They make driving in your automatic driving lessons an even more pleasurable experience in the knowledge that we are also being kind to the environment.

Our B+E trailer lessons are tailored for you depending on whether you tow a caravan, a boat, equestrian or commercial trailer. We will prepare you to successfully and safely tow your trailer regardless of experience. We can teach you to tow and reverse your trailer safely within a weekend.  You will find prices listed below.

B+E Trailer Training:

Firstly you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate your level of driving competence without the trailer.  Your instructor will then advise you and help brush up your skills where necessary. Secondly the format and elements of the B+E Test will be explained in detail.  Even though you are no longer required to take a test, it is a great yardstick to measure your skills. We will discuss and work out your personal training requirements  and tailor learning to you and your availability.
Training will cover health & safety, relevant basic towing in law, pre-towing inspection routine, coupling and uncoupling, reversing and manoeuvring.  If you already have towing experience then a refresher lesson will prepare you for a successful towing experience.

Mobility ...

YES! Driving School have 2 Instructors who specialise in Mobility lessons.  They have successfully completed the Mobility Course with QEF. This course has given them an in-depth knowledge of vehicle adaptations and modifications available.  Our Instructors have also learned techniques to enable people with a variety of disabilities to be successful at driving.

Current adaptations

We have modified one of our automatic cars for to cater for various disabilities.  The simple steering ball and lollipop can be used with either hand and, as you can see in the video, the left foot accelerator is an easy adaptation.

After talking with your instructor, it may be possible to take lessons in your own adapted car.

Advanced ...

Our Advanced Instructors will tutor you through to a standard of driving far superior to the standards required to pass the DVSA Learner Test.

“Advanced driving is the ability to control the position and speed of the vehicle safely, systematically and smoothly, using road and traffic conditions to progress unobtrusively with skill and responsibility. This skill requires a positive but courteous attitude and a high standard of driving competence based on concentration, effective all round observation, anticipation, and planning. This must be co-ordinated with good handling skills. The vehicle will always be at the right speed with the correct gear engaged and can always be stopped safely on its own side of the road in the distance that can be seen to be clear.”

– DSA, RoADAR, IAM, 1997

Advanced Drivers have also been proven to be less likely to crash.  They also drive in a manner which is far more cost effective, keeping fuel costs to a minimum and reducing the amount of wear and tear on the vehicle.
