Pete joined YES! Driving School when he moved to Dorset and chose YES! Driving School from many others. YES! Driving School made it easy for Pete to become a driving instructor in Blandford. In fairly quick time, Pete was invited to become Co-Owner of YES! Driving School with Ruedi
As part of his 22 years in the Army, Pete was an Instructor of various subjects for 21 years of this service. In this time, Pete realised that he had the ability to understand what makes an individual tick. Additionally, he learned how to get the best from each one. He now puts this ability together with the latest coaching techniques. This makes your learning experience an easy, stress free and fun time.
Pete believes that the Pupil should have a major say in their learning experience and any decisions made about the pace and direction of training should be a team effort. As a Trainer at heart, Pete is passionate about training. He takes great pleasure from seeing people progress in life and relishes in the excitement of Test Day. He has a great ability in putting his pupils at ease and giving a great sense of self-belief. This helps on Test Day and also in preparation for solo driving once the Pupil becomes a Full Licence Holder.
A strong knowledge of all test areas in Bournemouth, Poole, Dorchester and Salisbury ensures easy learning.
Always looking for self-improvement, Pete took the Advanced Driving Test assessed by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and achieved a Gold Award, the highest standard awarded. He has since retested several times with the same result and also went on to successfully complete the RoSPA Tutors Assessment. Pete aims to provide more than the basic levels as a Driving Instructor in Blandford and surrounding areas.

I have suffered with anxitey most of my life and never thought I’d be able to do a driving lesson let alone a test.
I started with Pete and instantly felt at ease. he went through all of my questions patiently, asked what I wanted to learn and what I myself was struggling with rather than throwing me into the deep end like my old instructor. I felt in control.
Pete was always there to offer his professional opinion whilst being hilarious in the car. I would look forward to my lessons as I was learning to drive. But also spending time with someone who feels like a friend.

When driving in situations i didn’t know i’d get myself so worked up, with pete by my side he was able to calm my nerves and helped me be prepared for any driving situation coming my way. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to be able to show me my weak spots in driving and it was amazing to have a choice of multiple different ways to approach the issues. I would look forward to every lesson as it never felt tense at all. I was able to pass my test first time in just 6 months with pete as my instructor.

I had an amazing instructor. Whenever I drive I feel confident in myself that I can make it to my destination on time and safely. Although I didn’t pass first time we tried really hard to fix what was going wrong and it finally went right in the end. Pete is extremely good at his job and I’m so lucky that I picked him to do my lessons with!

I can’t really put into words how much I valued and gained from having lessons with Pete. He not only provided me with expert driving knowledge but also gave me an opportunity to talk about what was going on in my life. I carried out my training to become an ADI with Pete, as he came highly recommended, the recommendation wasn’t wrong. Pete is a top class ADI trainer/ driving instructor and a genuine nice guy with a professional and client based manner. With Pete’s help I achieved a High scoring 48/51 A grade instructor status on my Part 3 exam. I never thought I could do this, but he had the faith. I have got to say I will miss our lessons and will be back for more training when required, keep up the good work, and thanks again.

Pete was the best driving instructor, even with covid and all the stopping and starting I never lost progress. He helped me go from feeling sos anxious going 7mph to being fully comfortable and confident behind the wheel. He was amazingly patient and will honestly put any fears of driving you have to rest. He’s also a great laugh which is always a bonus.

One of the things I appreciated most during my lessons with Pete was how each lesson was tailored to my needs as a driver; we weren’t moving through a set course so much as identifying the areas I needed to work on to develop my skills. Pete understands that everyone gets into the car with different experiences and ways of seeing the world, and instead of letting that be a barrier to understanding, he helped me to use my individual experiences to inform my driving techniques.
I feel that I was always included in decisions about my learning, and Pete was always open to different perspectives on each situation we encountered. Pete enabled me to grow confident in my own driving style, helping me to cultivate my own approaches in preparation for a lifetime of safe driving post-test.

The lessons were very relaxed and he allows you to learn in a safe, calm environment. Not only does he review and develop your driving, he spends time to assess himself as an instructor and adapts his teaching style to each of us.

Amazing! Petes down to earth and easy to get along with. Our lessons felt more like a nice, very often sticky drive, with a friend and a great atmosphere.

I came to Pete after having several lessons with several other instructors. Pete immediately identified the floors in my driving and presented me with ways that we could fix them and move forward. Each lesson I felt I was progessing, improving and actually moving towards being test ready, which wasn’t the case with some other instuctors Id had. Pete creates a relaxed and fun learning atmosphere in the car and pairs that with clear and insightful instruction. I couldnt recommend him enough!

Pete is everything you could want in a driving instructor and more. He’s able to have a good laugh and has a great sense of humour, which helps a lot if you find driving stressful, he really makes you feel comfortable and at ease with driving. I’m someone that likes to ask a lot of questions and Pete always had an answer. He’s honest and will tell you how things are which is important to make sure you are a safe driver. Couldn’t recommend Pete more, I would never have passed first time without him.

After leaving my previous instructor for various reasons, I looked online for something better and found YES! driving. I was booked in almost instantly with no hassle. Pete is a brilliant driving instructor and has a knack for making things that I had struggled with for months previous click. In the car itself you feel very comfortable and it’s a fantastic learning environment. Overall Pete does go above and beyond to help out his pupils for example using (Optional) rear and front facing cameras. He can show you the recordings on his I Pad which helps immensely when correcting mistakes. As a result of my brilliant time with Pete my younger brothers will also be learning with this company. I can’t recommenced it enough.

I have had a fantastic time learning to drive with Pete. Having never been in the drivers side of a car before, he was really good at starting lessons at a pace I was comfortable with. Each lesson outcome was up to me, with some helpful ideas on what I might want to do and achieve over each session in the car. Pete not only has great teaching skills, he is also able to make you feel welcome in the car, and uses humour and sarcasm to help take away nerves. *5/5 stars* Thank you so much Pete!

I first met Pete at a local Advanced Drivers meeting, I had been contemplating becoming a Driving Instructor for a few years and after building up the courage I asked him how he became a Driving Instructor. After a 3hr taster session with Pete my mind was made up to become an instructor. Becoming an ADI was not an easy journey for me but with Pete being my mentor/sponsor, I’ve manage to do it. Pete was there every step of the way, any time, any place, anywhere, if I had a question or queries, Pete was there to help. If you are thinking of becoming a Driving Instructor my advice is to DO IT. Pete is an amazing instructor and he will help you every step of the way.

Learning with Pete has been great. He’s encouraging, but does not place too much pressure upon you to do things you may not be comfortable with. Pete also emphasises the point that there is nothing wrong with making mistakes and encourages self analysis to learn from your mistakes. Overall my learning experience has been pretty awesome.

I tend to do terribly while learning and learning to drive was no different however Pete was always there to laugh at me (in a good way that is). I have just passed my test today with Pete, I am an older learner at 36 and to be honest I never thought I had the confidence or self-belief to drive until I met Pete, from my first lesson I knew I could do it with him as my instructor. He is patient, calm and supportive,not only that he also has a great sense of humor,nearly choked on my gum a few times. He has taught me all the tools I need to drive safely and in control, anticipating what could happen next and what if. I would highly recommend yes driving and Pete especially if you want to learn to drive.I will miss the lessons and giggles.

Pete has been brilliant from day one. For someone that has never wanted to drive and was very nervous starting off he has put my nerves at rest and helped me through to passing my test first time. Brilliant instructor and would recommend him to anyone that wants to learn to drive! Will miss my Saturday morning drives mainly because I can't get out of the housework now.

Well what to say about Pete Wilkinson in our time together….He loves long walks on beaches and of course instructing driving lessons. He does a superb job at it. I honestly couldn't recommend anyone better suited for the job.
Passed today first time and I don't think any other instructor could of bin of any more help. I was worried at first about driving bur with my instructor I built confidence all the way up to test day to come to my surprise of a first time pass. Really chuffed and was well recommended it to me by friends as I will recommend anyone else looking to drive. WOOHOO!!!!!!

Had a great time learning with Pete, a great guy and instructor. Would recommend to anyone who is new to driving or picking it up later on. Although I had some bad luck on my tests, we persevered through it and it made me a better driver and made me more determined to be a better and a more concentrated driver. Pete, what can I say, passed my test today only obtaining one driver fault. Anyone who wants to learn to drive should contact this man, he will not only be your best pal within two sessions but he will guide you in the right direction for success come test day. What an experience.
Pete is an amazing instructor. From lesson one to my test Pete made me feel comfortable and safe in the car. He has shown me all of the skills i needed to pass my test,and he did it in style! Not only that, Pete takes the extra time to make sure we are safe and confident for after our tests. Teaching aside, Pete is a wonderful person, always up beat and happy, which motivated me to do better and look forward to each lesson more. I would highly recommend Pete as a driving instructor for ANYBODY! In fact i would even go so far as saying he was more of a driving 'Dad' than instructor!
Having had three instructors in total I can easily say that Pete was the best and by far had the best teaching practice. His all round friendly personality and encouraging nature is great for any learner and really helps you to feel comfortable driving. Failed twice with one instructor and pass first time with Pete with only 3DFs. Very funny but professional, great guy!!! Thanks a lot 🙂
I cannot express enough how grateful I am I found Pete!!! I was so nervous to learn to drive at my age, he was the most calm relaxed person I've ever met and believed in me, even when I didn't!!!! Pete is the most patient and good-natured bloke ever!! I went to him as a late starter at thirty odd with very low confidence in my ability and he really turned it around for me. I came to Yes! driving school after having to leave a pervious driving school. Pete helped my to build my confidence, and be able to sit and enjoy my driving lessons, he took time to get to know me and know the sort of required teachings i needed for my own personal use. I was lucky enough two pass first time with only 2 minors, this was only possible using all of Pete little sayings that helped me get around the test. Pete and Yes! driving are well worth taking driving lessons with. Thankyou again Pete, you such an amazing guy and glad i have had to opportunity to get to meet you!! 🙂
I was ringing around and found the best and most welcoming instructor was Pete, he is an amazing instructor, always have fun, always up for a laugh as well as makes sure that you have confidence in yourself, he will mould you into a safe driver for sure. After 30hrs of training with Pete, I passed first time. Apologies for the late review.
Pete was a brilliant instructor who guided me at my own pace through all the necessary skills that I needed to make me a safe but confident driver before I'd even taken my test! He is such a nice man and I will miss the sessions with him. Although perhaps he suffers from the fact he is so good as his session are often taken very quickly so make sure you book well in advance. I never really had the confidence to drive when i first started learning was afraid to fail which lead to me giving it up for a few years. I then got hold of petes number and with no problem at all he took me on and gave me all the knowledge, skill and the want back for driving, and without his passion for his students wanting to pass he never gave up on me and gave me back my confidence and helped me pass. I past my driving test first time with the help of pete w. In my personal apinion he is the best instructor. Ive had different instructors in the past but they werent as clear with instructions or explaining about your plan for the lesson. Pete w helped me believe in my self and gain confidence. If your looking for a really gd instructor id go with pete w. hes a great guy and a great instructor
Pete is a warm person and very funny. We've had the occasional mess up but Pete was always there to cheer me up and move forward. I highly HIGHLY recommend Pete as your driving instructor. Passed first time with 2 minors the other day, all thanks to Peter who got me there. Started with a Different instructor, it didn't work well, changing to Pete it helped me learn how to drive a lot better than I would have! Will be contacting him for a motorway lesson soon.

Pete is not only a fantastic driving instructor but he really does put the effort in. full of lots of laughs, having Pete as my one and only driving instructor proved to be a great result passing on my first attempt would recommend Pete for anyone at all who's looking at learning to drive..It does what it says on the tin.

I passed my test last Monday with Pete teaching me from start to finish. Couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Passionate, understanding and above all (extremely) patient with as much laughter as driving. The man really is a legend and I probably would have paid the tuiton money just to have a couple of hours in his company.
Pete was the first instructor I went with and not once did it cross my mind to try another – I truly think any pupil would benefit from him as his style is completely tailored toward the student and getting the absolute best from them. A genuine bloke.

I knew Pete for years during his military service, he is a patient and dedicated instructor in every subject he teaches, with the best interests of the student at heart. I would whole heartedly recommend him to anyone who needs the skills and self belief to get through their driving test.

Pete was my second instructor and I'm so glad he was recommended to me, he completely understands what the pupil wants, needs and how to make them tick, Pete turned me from a shaky nervous wreck into a confident, capable driver, Pete is very client entered and he will do anything possible to make sure he gets the most out of the pupil without boring them, many could guarantee that when you're learning with this man there is no such thing as boredom, highly recommend him and will miss him now that I've passed as he never failed to brighten my day!

Pete always had an answer for any question I had and was great at making a basic plan for our sessions, while also being flexible and available to change those plans according to what I felt I needed to improve on. He's very patient and a great guy to talk to in general, there wasn't a moment I felt uncomfortable learning with him. He's great with people and knows his profession like the back of his hand.
