Before moving to Dorset Susan lived and taught in South-West London. She now lives in Boscombe with her three children, her partner and a Dalmatian. Susan operates as a female automatic driving instructor. She covers the areas of Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole – a wide area, because she can’t say “no”, when asked nicely.
Susan has also successfully completed the Mobility Course with QEF. This has given her an in depth knowledge of adaptations which can be made to a car. She also gained many techniques to be used to enable people with a variety of disabilities to be successful at driving.
Sue’s motoring career started when she marshalled at various motorbike events from club races to GPs. When occasionally asked if she’d ever get scared when teaching, Sue likes to reply that “nothing is as scary as a riderless motorbike hurtling towards you with only a straw bale (or another marshal) for protection!”. In other words, Sue is still looking for the student who’d give her a challenge ;).
Apart from that, Sue loves teaching in Dorset as the roads are so varied compared to South London roads. Please ask for Sue if you want a female automatic driving instructor with lessons that are fun and in a relaxed atmosphere.

After trying to learn to drive in a manual, I decided that it wasn’t for me. I found Sue and knew that if I was ever going to suceed, it had to be with her. She is so patient, calm and encouraging. She really made the experience a good one, and more importantantly a positive one which had not been the case previously. I suffered with nerves terribly but Sue said and did all the right things and got me through it all. I would highly recommend Sue to anyone wanting to learn to drive but particularly if you’re nervous. The lessons were often fun with lots of laughter, too. I am delighted that I passed my practical driving test today, thanks to the support and encouragement from Sue. I have been having driving lessons with Sue on and off for a few years now due to suffering with anxiety and not believing in myself. Throughout my lessons, Sue has always adopted a very calm and reassuring approach, explains things very well in an easily understood way and is an all round lovely, kind and funny person who will makes you feel at ease and the lessons enjoyable. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t have been able to pass without the support and encouragement from Sue! Best instructor ever since I had a few before her but she was the best due to her having patience with me and helped me build my confidence in a lot of ways, thought me the quickest and never ever has she snapped at me especially because I missed a few lessons so thank u Susan ☺️

After having a bad experience with a driving instructor when I was seventeen and being put off driving for years, I thought that I would always be too nervous to drive, but after being recommended Sue and doing lessons with her, I have just passed first time! Sue put me at ease in all of my lessons and was always patient, accommodating and kind. She never pushed me to do things I didn’t want to do and always waited until I was ready. I changed from manual to an automatic in Feb of this year and this was by far the best decision! Especially with an instructor that helped me feel at ease and taught me so much.
In the past I had difficult instructors who didn’t take their time with me and tended to get frustrated. With Sue this was never a problem and I always looked forward to a lesson! Today I passed with only 2 minors! Thank you Sue for all your help!
I had lessons with Sue who I found to be friendly, professional & patient. Greatly enjoyed my lessons with Sue. An always patient and good humoured teacher and never visibly rattled by my repeated attempts to murder us both as I’d career recklessly into the oncoming traffic. She successfully taught my wife Karen and myself, which can’t have been easy since neither of us (both creaky, cranky and middle aged!) are natural drivers. Yet we both passed first time! For which, many many thanks Sue 😉 Highly recommended.
I had been having lessons with someone and not getting anywhere. Straight away Su simplified the manoeuvres making them much easier to do. She really pushed the lessons so I made genuine progress each lesson. Su is very calm, and kind and very understanding if you are anxious, and is a great laugh too. (I miss her 😭!)

I honestly cannot thank Sue enough. I’ve been doing lessons on and off for twelve years and never had the confidence to test, i have severe anxiety. I had two booked and didn’t show for either. I booked 22 hours with Sue and did them over a week, I failed first time and she made sure I booked a retest on the way home, with only an extra for hours between first and second test and thanks to the confidence, patience and skills Sue gave me, this morning I tested again and passed. I got home took my partner to work and was then able to go see my mum who lives 40 minutes away and have lunch with my best friend that I’ve not seen in months. Thankyou again Sue � xx x

I really never thought that I could overcome my anxiety around driving. Other instructors made me feel more nervous, and my confidence was very low when I began with Sue. She put a stop to all that. I can’t recommend Sue enough! I was a very nervous passenger in cars and never thought that I would learn to drive. I finally decided that now was the time and Sue put me at ease during my first lesson. After about 30 hrs of lessons I passed my test first time with 2 minors!! Next step for me is my pass plus – so you don’t get rid of me that quickly I’m afraid Sue!

I had taken manual lessons twice before in other areas and hated it, not feeling at ease with the instructors. I had lessons with Sue and felt at ease from day one. Never one to get angry or frustrated even when I did something wrong and I never felt patronized as a learner with her. Very easy going and taught me tricks and this for managing my manoeuvres which no one else had ever told me! Passed first time. Would definitely recommend.

I passed last week thanks to Sue, the best driving instructor ever! Sue made me feel at ease, offered reassurance when needed, was always consistent in her teaching approach and made me feel empowered. She does not get angry or annoyed- remains calm even when I made stupid mistakes. She gives very clear and easy to follow instructions – has a good sense of humour, is reliable and always on time. She is also very flexible and down to earth.It took me a while to research different driving schools and instructors and I was pleased that Sue's name was listed on the DVSA website.
Sue is an amazing driving instructor- I was crazy nervous when we started and had no driving experience but I managed to pass my test first time after 24 hours of tuition. She's always calm, never aggressive, gives clear instructions and overall just teaches you really well and at a good pace. Thank You so much to Sue. I just could not image better instructor then her she is so patient, calm and friendly. I haven't drive a car before and when we start our lesson after 38 hours i passed my test so she did teach me really well.
Sue is a very nice and calm as a person and very good as an instructor… She worked on the week areas to improve my driving skills.. As a result I've cleared my driving test in such a short duration… Many Thanks to Sue!

I chose Sue as my instructor after reading all the positive reviews on here and I echo everything everyone else has said. Sue is amazingly calm and a brilliant instructor.
